MEGAN BLACK - WHIMSICAL FANTASY ART

"The art in this exhibition shows my skills in drawing, painting and sketching.

My favourite pieces are "Fallen Angel", "Valiant Knight" and "Moon Goddess".

The main median used in these three pieces are graphite. I have experimented with different techniques such as shading and depth.
For the "Valiant Knight" I experimented with making the armour shine. To do this I used white pen and white pencil. I have been fortunate to win first prize at the Colac Show in 2024 for "Valiant Knight" and second prize at the Colac Show in 2023 for "Fallen Angel".

I entered into the Colac Otway Arts showcase and exhibition in 2023 for "Fallen Angel" and in 2024 for "Valiant Knight" and won first prize for the youth section and also for the peoples' choice award two years in a row.

Some of the artworks on display also include sketches and digital art.

All these pieces are original except "Fallen Angel" but this piece is my interpretation of the original artwork by Alexandre Cabanel and the other piece that isn't original is the "Centaur Nessus" by Gustave Moreau.

About the artist:

I am a young artist who is interested in sketching and painting fantasy/gothic style art. I have always loved drawing ever since I was three or four, but I started refining my art in 2022 when I was 12-13 years of age. My aim is to do realistic art and to be able to study art in university. I would like to also be able to have my art shown in galleries around Australia and overseas.
